April - Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Hasan Hasanov made an official visit to Egypt. He has held the meetings with the President Hosni Mubarak, Foreign Minister, Amr Moussa, Minister of Oil, the President of Parliament and made a statement in the session of the League of Arabic States

April 7 -  The Treaty on Economic and scientific-technical cooperation was signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Arab Republic of Egypt. 

September -  The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev made an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt in order to participate at the International Conference of UN on Population and Development. During the visit his meeting with the President Hosni Mubarak carried a great importance in strengthening Egyptian-Azerbaijani relations and in defining new perspectives of cooperation.
